PSP Media Studio 3.0 - the most frequently asked support questions
Your top 25 questions… | And the solutions… | |
1) |
How do I redownload and/or re-activate the software |
|
2) | Sound Issues |
|
3) | Error 75 |
Most likely, the temporary file on your PC is 'locked' as read-only in Windows. You need to turn off and restart your PC to solve this. Should the error occur again, then manually delete the VIDEO_TS folder from the root of your C:\ drive. To prevent it from happening again, you may close the software and start it again in between conversions. |
4) | Error Message: this video has unsupported codecs |
|
5) | Step 1 doesn't complete, it hangs. Or it gives a 'cyclic redundancy' error.

|
6) | I receive a ‘PSP Media Studio has encountered an error and has to
shut down' error. |
|
7) | I cannot transfer the video to my PSP
|
When conversion is finished, a new window will pop-up. This allows you to move the video file directly to the PSP, or to the desktop, so that you can move it manually. The three text boxes indicate the total space on your Memorystick, the free space and the size of the video file you've just converted. If the size of the video is bigger then the free space, you will be prompted to delete files first. Press Refresh to recalculate the free space after you've deleted some video files. From the PSP Settings Menu, pick the drive letter that the PSP represents on your PC. To find that letter, connect your PSP with the USB cable to your PC, set the PSP in USB mode and go to 'My Computer'. The PSP will mount as an external drive in your PC. Set the same drive letter that you see in My Computer, in the PSP Settings Menu. After you've done this once, the software will remember this setting the next time. Then Press the PSP button to move the file to the game console. If, for whatever reason, you're not able to transfer the movie file to the PSP, you can press the Desktop button. The movie will be transferred to the desktop and will be called M4V12345.MP4 or similar. You can move it to the PSP manually. It needs to go in a folder called F:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01, where F:\ is the drive letter of your Memory Stick. |
8) | I'm getting black bars on top and bottom when I play a movie on my PSP. | PSP screens and a movie theater screen aren't the same shape. Movie screens are much wider. Today, films generally come in one of two basic widescreen sizes (called aspect ratios): 'Academy Standard' (aspect ratio 1.85:1), and 'Anamorphic Scope' (aspect ratio 2.35:1). Films in 'Academy' are widescreen (like English Patient, Toy Story or Silence of the Lambs), but do not appear quite as wide as Scope films (like Star Wars, Lawrence of Arabia, or Apollo 13). Pocket PC screens and TVs have a (1.33:1) aspect ratio. 1) To display a movie in a zoomed mode, cropping the picture from left and right, choose Zoom in the Advanced Settings. This will blowup the picture and remove the black stripes. 2) To display a movie or tv-show in its original aspect ratio, without zooming or squashing, choose that setting when asked. 3) If you want black stripes, and your original is Cinemascope,
choose Correct Stretching, this make sure the widescreen
aspect ratio is maintained.. |
